2023 Energy Efficiency Home Improvement Tax Credit


What

  • The IRA amended the 25C tax credit program for 2023

  • Consumers are eligible for 30% of the total cost of a qualifying home improvement; up to $1,200 for HVAC equipment (annual cap)

    • Up to $600 for qualified air conditioners and gas furnaces with a $1,200 limit per house house

    • Up to $2,000 for qualified heat pumps


When

  • The program will begin January 1, 2023

  • Qualifications are based on the highest CEE (Consortium of Energy Efficiency) tier (not advanced tier) at the start of each year


Why

  • The program is designed to incentivize high efficiency HVAC replacements and has been enhanced to drive toward electrification and carbon reduction goals.

Incentive Program

  • High efficiency Electric Home Rebate Program


Income Qualification

  • Less than 150% of local mean area income (Housing and Urban Development measures by county and metropolitan area)* *Cannot be used with HOMES Rebate


Eligible Equipment We service and install all of the following

  • Heat pump for space heating or cooling: $8,000

  • Heat pump water heater: $1,750

  • Electric stove, cooktop, range, or oven: $840 (don't provide service for)

  • Electric heat pump clothes dryer: $840

  • Electric load service center upgrades: $4,000

  • Insulation, air sealing, and ventilation: $1,600

  • Electric wiring: $2,500


Incentive Amount

  • For households with annual income less than 80% of the local mean area income: 100% of the installation cost up to the individual amounts to left or a total rebate of $14,000.

  • For households with annual income between 80% and 150% of the local mean area income: 50% of the installation cost up to the individual amounts to left or a total rebate of $14,000. (Note: 50% of the installation cost not 50% of the rebate max)
